The Nile Rv. was an amazing resource for the Egyptians, but not just for water and agricultural reasons. The Nile Rv. also supposedly helped the Egyptians develop their beleifs of life after death. They related the 'death' of the plants after harvest to the death of people, and the 'new life' of plants after the Nile's floods to the rebirth (or afterlife) that the Egyptians believed in. They also related the setting and rising of the sun to this as well. (I thought that was pretty cool.)

Many of you may already have known this, but before I did my poster I didn't know that the Nile was actually 2 rivers! :) The 'main' Nile is made up of the White and Blue Niles, connecting in Ethiopia, flowing North to the Mediterranean Sea.

Many famous people call Egypt 'the gift of the Nile,' because without a steady source of water people probably would not have settled in that area at all! Also, even before people settled in Egypt, there were lots of animals just roaming around. Once they, (the animals), started moving over to the land by the Nile River, people followed them.

Beth's Autobiography

The rain ran down the window, dripping slowly into the brimming rain bucket below. It had been a very rainy week, but Bethany loved it! The rain seemed to wash all the bad things from her day or mind, replacing her sometimes gloomy face with a smile. As well as rain, Bethany also loved ice-cream, the country, going barefoot, and the west Edmonton Water Park. She dislikes it when people are rude, drinking warm milk, and eating black licorice. You could often find her reading a good novel on her bed, snuggled up in the corner with her warm, blue blanket, or crocheting on the couch, but not today! Bethany occasionally had a really busy day, like this one! She enjoyed doing so many things, sometimes 24 hours was just too little time.

“Thanks for the breakfast Mom,” Bethany called as she rushed down the stairs. That peanut butter toast and Cheerio’s had been good, but now it was time to fly! Bethany and her amazing older sister shared a room in the basement. It was usually fun, but sometimes erupted in-

“Where’s the cap for the toothpaste?” Karissa called, frustrated with Bethany.

“I don’t know, but have you seen my mouth piece? I left it on the dresser just last night!”
Bethany and Karissa couldn’t stay mad at each other for more than 5 minutes, but the morning routine could sometimes hold those frustrating moments. Soon enough, however, they would be out the door, either on their bikes or at the bus stop, ready,
(or somewhat ready), to face the school day.

“Bye Mom, bye Dad, I love you!” the 2 girls said to their parents as they quickly walked/ran through the door.
Bethany’s younger siblings would leave for school a little later.

Today, Bethany decided to take her bike. As she pedalled along her service road, the sights and smells of the trip became familiar. The vehicles sped along, their drivers either going to school or work, the joggers and dog walkers continued their morning routines, the student pedestrians chatted about the full day ahead, and the wonderful smell of the Bakery wafted into her nose once she’d passed the corner store.
Physical Activity, whether going for a walk, run, or bike, always calmed and relaxed Bethany. Biking was a good way to start off her day.

After about 10 minutes of riding, Bethany arrived at her school. It was ha great school, and except for the homework, Bethany loved it! To make it even better, Karissa, Brenley, and Camille, her 3 best friends, went here as well.
As Bethany made her way to her locker, it was hard to imagine that she and her friends had ever been new here! Even after 2 days, spinning the combination on her lock seemed like the most natural thing in the world. Checking the schedule on the inside of her locker door, Bethany smiled as she realized that her first 2 periods of the day were ELA. She loved reading and writing, therefore English was her favourite subject. Bethany also realized that there was a quiz next week, so she would have to begin looking over notes tonight, as to keep in line with her academic goal of studying more in advanced for tests, and getting 83% or higher on tests and assignments.

Just as she finished collecting her things, someone tapped her on the shoulder.
“Oh! Hi Camille!” Bethany said, smiling at her awesome friend she’d known since forever.
Usually the girls would bike together, but today they would have to squeeze in some chatting time before school started. They usually talked about events from the evening beforehand, worries or excitements about the upcoming day or week, or anything else they wanted to talk about. Best Friends were like that; there would be no shortage of things to discuss!

Soon enough, the bell rang for school to start, and after that, the regular hustle and bustle in the halls would stop and start every 40 minutes, as if mechanical.
The day whizzed by, and the flow continued through lunch, an intense period of dodgeball, and a class of science and math. The bell rang, signalling the end of another school day. Bethany, Camille, Brenley, and many other hopeful girls raced out of their classrooms and to the gym for their next volleyball tryout.
After their regular warm up, the girls went through a variety of drills, such as bumping, setting, and working on general hustle while in a real game. It got pretty tiring after a while, but everyone kept working hard as to get a shot on the team. Even though it was hard, the time flew! Volleyball was Bethany’s favourite sport, so she loved it! The practice went on for about an hour and a half, but Bethany had to leave earlier to go to Musical Theatre.

After quickly switching from her somewhat unpleasantly smelling gym clothes, she was picked up by her Dad. They would then drive to the building, only a couple minutes away, where Bethany’s classes were held.
Musical Theatre was perfect for Bethany. Being onstage fit her outgoing and dramatic personality, plus, Bethany absolutely loved singing, dancing, and acting. She would sing in the shower, while getting ready for school; practically anywhere! She also sang in church services on some occasions, which was really special.
After spending some time working on the 3 components; drama, singing, and dancing, Bethany was ready to head home for supper!

Isn’t it wonderful to walk into a place where every last thing is familiar, to the last smell, texture, and sight? To walk inside and know you are loved and welcomed? That’s what home is, for Bethany at least.
After a yummy supper and a chat about her day, Bethany was ready for some major relaxation! She went downstairs to her room, pulled out her scrapbook, cranked up the tunes, and started singing along, pretending she was putting on a concert! (Luckily there was no homework tonight.) Tonight she didn’t’ have to practice her instrument, because her goal was 3 times a week, and last night she had already played.
Even though it had been a busy day, Bethany felt good about it. Except for the somewhat messy room, she had accomplished all she had wanted to today. Although it would be disappointing, it didn’t matter if she didn’t make the volleyball team, or got the lead part in the musical. She had God, her family, and friends that loved her, and that was what really mattered.

Bethany made the volleyball team, and is having a blast! She joined the Junior Jazz group at her school. Bethany continues to try and reach her goals, and although she’ll sometimes slip up, she is excited for the upcoming busy year!
